CHEM 3510: Physical Chemistry I
Thermodynamics, kinetic molecular theory, solutions and phase equilibria, chemical equilibrium, photochemistry, and chemical kinetics.
Prerequisites: CHEM 1420, 1422, or 1423; MATH 1720; PHYS 1420 or 2220.

CHEM 3520: Physical Chemistry II
Quantum mechanics: atomic structure and molecular orbital theory. Spectroscopy: microwave, infrared, electronic, photoelectron, electron spin and NMR.
Prerequisites: CHEM 3510.

CHEM 4660/5600: Introduction to Computational Chemistry
Introduction to the use of modern computational methodologies for the study of physical properties and chemcial reactions of importance in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, and environmental sciences.
Prerequisites: CHEM 3520 (may be taken concurrently) or consent of department.

CHEM 5010: Introduction to Graduate Teaching and Research
Topics include university policies, safety in the laboratory, first aid techniques, teaching techniques, audio-visual facilities and operation, use of the university libraries, university/departmental computational facilities, PC facilities and use, and maintaining a research journal. Required for all full-time first-year graduate students.
Prerequisites: Graduate standing within the department.

CHEM 5200: Physical Chemistry
A survey of selected topics in physical chemistry, including thermodynamics, mechanics, statistical mechanics, heterogeneous and homogeneous equilibria, and chemical kinetics.
Prerequisites: CHEM 3520 or consent of department.
