Lavoisier attended Mazarin College 1754-1761. Lavoisier's first interests at Mazarin were literary, and he won a Paris-wide competition for essays he wrote. Such competitive prizes would later be won by, for example, a younger Maximilen Isidore Robespierre (1758-1794) , with whom ironically later during the Revolution he would share the fate of being guillotined and buried in the same common grave.
