"Kongelige Norske Bergseminarium (Kongsberg Mining Academy) founded by a royal order of 19 September 1757. The Mining Academy -- Europe's oldest higher level mining academy -- erected this building in 1786, and was housed there until 1814. Teaching was then transferred to the Royal Frederik's University, and in 1912 to the Norwegian Technical High School." The university shut down when the University of Christiana [Oslo] was created in 1813, and Jens Esmark moved on to that university.
