Lars Fredrik Nilson

1840-1890

  He was a professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and at the Agricultural Academy at Stockholm who discovered scandium by isolating it from the rare earths. Nilson also prepared titanium in pure form with Pettersson.
