This plaque recognizes the importance of James McGill; the University he established in Canada was the location where Soddy was postdoctoral fellow for Ernest Rutherford {LINK: Canada210}, where they deciphered the nature of radioactive decay, discovered the spontaneous transmutation of elements, and discovered the element radon. The plaque is in the Cloisters of the Main Building.
